How to: adding an RSS feed to Netvibes

Hopefully, you have tried using one of the RSS aggregators highlighted in the previous blog. If you still need some help on actually accomplishing this task, I have recorded a 5-min video on how to do this. Perhaps after watching this you will be motivated to give it a try. If you do, please post a comment stating your success or failure. I will be demonstrating how to do this tomorrow prior to and just after Faculty Forum, so please stop by if you prefer your demonstrations live.

[Note: the screen capture software I used for this demonstration was JingProject, which is a free download from TechSmith Comany, makers of SnagIT and Camtasia softwares. When I downloaded JingProject to try it out, I also signed up for a free ScreenCast account which allows me to immediately upload the video and generate a URL that I can, and did, share with others. More on these technologies in upcoming blogs postings.]

Thanks Tim. I found the video you made to be very helpful. I am attempting to set up a Netvibes page for the blogs I want to follow. Now I know how to do it.
And I want to point out that I'm glad you used Jing to make your video. I haven't tried it yet but I heard of it. (The sound on it seems rather low though. I didn't see a place to turn up the volume.)
Was Jing easy to use? How long would you say it took you to make the video? Can you edit or is it just one take?

Nicole, thanks for the comment. Since it was my first video I created with Jing I may not have had the settings just right, plus I did it in a hurry. I would say from the time that I decided to record me editing my Netvibe page until I had the video completed, uploaded and a URL for video that I could paste into the blog text, it took about 10 minutes.

The nicest feature was that creating a video using Jing and then uploading it to the companies website, Screencast, made it VERY easy. If I would have had to send the video to some else who would then upload the video and send back to me a URL for where the video was stored, it would have taken days.

Hope that helps.
